Sometimes it feels like I am sliding backwards a bit. My feet are trying to grip ice, failing to find footing and just staying in the same place. I thought I was progressing, growing, and finding my footing on solid ground, and then I freeze. I feel it come over me. I shiver. I am reminded that the slope remains quite slippery.
Sometimes it feels like you can’t move forward. You are walking up the down escalator trying to run faster and faster only to see that you aren’t actually going forward. It becomes apparent that the best way to progress is to go to the bottom and find a new way to the top.
I try my hardest to ignore, focus, and look behind me at how far I have come, and see each obstacle as a challenge to find a new way past, around, or through each new obstacle.
